One small query. You wrote 'However, your passports may also suffice for this purpose, depending on what visa you have been on'.
Please could you slightly expand on what exactly you mean by 'depending on what visa you have been on'. Thanks.
I meant that if you if have been solely on student visas for the whole of the duration of the 10 years and those visas overlap one another without any gaps, then your passport should suffice to prove your residence, without needing documents from your educational establishment (the requirement clearly states "passports OR...")
Some "10-year students" sometimes have periods when they have been on visitor visas, working holiday visas or part PSW, in which case I would imagine some form of confirmation from the employer may be needed. That said, this is only an opinion, the NCS may be able to provide a better answer, so I would recommend you use their service when applying (£40 is not a lot in the grand scheme of things). And I for one would be glad to hold on to my documents for once, having just had the luxury of spending 7 months without my passport.
