KOL REQ. endorsed spouse visa

I've just received a spouse visa with a KOL REQ endorsement. I have not arrived in the UK as yet (spouse visa is only a week old); but would like to take the KOL test as soon as I arrive. What else is required for me to apply for the ILR?

A two year wait and a projected fee of about Â£1000 if ILR exists by then - it's all up for change.

Absolutely not! With the KOL REQ endorsement, after passing the Life in the UK Citizenship test, you can apply for ILR immediately. Use form SET(M).

As John said you can apply for ILR as soon as you pass the test but you do need time to study it and you will need to read the required material.
It is not a walk in the park!Meaning it is not easy, but then again thousands pass quite easily but they study

I just wondered how you were issued with this type of visa, did you live with your spouse outside of the UK for more than 4 years?

Exactly, my husband and I were married in Jamaica in 2001, and lived there together until he left for the UK in May 2009.

Thanks very much for your reply. I had a similar case, but unfortunately we lived together in the UK for two years, then 2 abroad, so we didnt qualify

That must have been bittersweet; great to get the spouse visa, but dissapointing that you didn't qualify for the KOL REQ endorsement.

It was so annoying. You think after all that time married that they would make exceptions!
Weve been here over a year now and he only has 9 months until he can apply for ILR! So time is moving on. Im just so lucky that we can apply beofre July 2011 when they are changing the laws. I would be even more annoyed then, even more time it would take!
