Child traveling with wife who has settlement visa

Post by Dansette » Sun Apr 18, 2010 3:53 pm

Hi

We are applying for a settlement visa for my wife. Our child is only 4 weeks old, she was born in the US. I'm a UK citizen, I'm her natural father.

We have applied for a US passport for the child.

Problem we have now is that I'm back in the UK and it's going to be difficult to apply for a UK passport for the child now. Due to the problems with air travel, I can't send the completed UK Passport application form to my wife and the marriage certificate and my child's birth certificate are still in the US.

So my question is - if my wife travels to the UK after she has her settlement visa granted, but the child enters the UK on a US passport, is this a problem? Does the fact that my child won't have a UK passport at this stage cause any problems?

cheers

The child will need a settlement visa too otherwise there might be problems on arrival, or at least a Certificate of Entitlement to right of abode.
