bringing illegal meat products - impact of visa application

Post by happychu » Tue Apr 20, 2010 1:40 am

I've got caught of by the customs at heathrow airport of brining 2k of illegal meat products. issued with a seizure information notice and a warning letter.
I think they've taken down my passport information as well

the thing is I am planning to apply for Tier 1 general later on
1 - Will Home Office search for such record and 2 - will they reject my application by that?

You've got nothing to worry about pal.

I personally avoid Heathrow,Manchester and Gatwick- too much hassle. Well, I live up north so it's easy for me to do that.

i suggest you check with a solicitor...its worth checking rather spoiling your future chances by providing wrong info the criminical records section.

What solicitor? He wasn't arrested or charged, so why does he have to worry about a visa refusal because his 'meat' was seized?

you need not worry about it.

If you feel that strongly about it, then mention it in covering letter but say that you dont have any criminal record in relevant section of the application.

Atleast, you are being honest here in the app and HO would appreciate it!
