Meeting gross of GBP 50, 000

Post by gamehunter707 » Thu Apr 22, 2010 6:04 pm

Dear Forum, I work for an Indian IT company and I get a net income of GBP 2985 every month. If I extrapolate this to gross using salary calculator, the gross becomes GBP 50,000 per annum, which gives me enough points to quality for Tier 1 Visa.

However, being an Indian IT company and because of their intra company transfer approach, the P60 shows gross as GBP 32,803 and the work permit shows salary as GBP 35,820. I cannot qualify for tier one with this salary. Hence the following question- Would the home office consider my gross as GBP 50,000 and award the points I need, if I submit my last 12 months payslips each having GBP 2985, which technically in UK terms means an employees salary is GBP 50, 000.

Appreciate any guidance on this. Thanks.

So, you get a high net salary because you are taxed very lightly, rather than because your gross is as high as 50,000?

If yes, I don't think you can just "extrapolate" your net monthly earnings to what a hypothetical UK person would earn, if they were to pay full taxes on their income. You are very clearly asked to show gross earnings, whatever your tax status.

UKBA will consider the (gross) income that is reflected in the two independent documentary evidences (e.g. - payslips and bank statements) you provide in your application.

Is the P60 for less than a year?
What do your payslips show?

There was a document from UKBA, which expained changes from 6th April. This document clearly stated that one can not gross up the salary to consider taxes. We can not add tax advantages to show equivalent gross. As Sushd said, gross should ge shown on salary slip/employer letter document.

Apologies for the ignorance - but even if you earn close to 3000 pounds per month, then how does it add up to 50,000 per month? Which salary calculator are you talking about?

As I understand, your monthly payslip should show gross income of GBP 4166.666 and then net income after deducting for tax, NI etc. to show it as gross 50000 annual income.

For the moment, if we put your P60 and Work permit aside, what does your Salary slip in the UK and your Bank statements show?
As u said that your payslips show £2985, where does £5000 come from? I am a bit confused with the mathematics, unless you have another source of income or you are getting salary in India as well for which you cannot use conversion factor.
