Entry on spouse visa during divorce!

Post by dave2000 » Wed Apr 21, 2010 5:55 pm

Hello,

I entered the UK on a spouse visa last summer (I am a US citizen). After arrival, my wife filed for divorce (she is a UK citizen). We have two children, who are now resident of the UK.

I'm in the US now, but need to travel to the UK in a few weeks to see the children, and for court dates.

How would I find out if my wife has alerted the UK Border Agency to the breakdown of our marriage?

What would happen if I try and enter the UK with the visa in my passport, and do not inform the immigration official about the breakdown of my marriage?

And what would happen if I did inform them?

Would they let me in as an American tourist?

Tear the visa out?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

Tear the visa out? Don't be silly! That would most definitely invalidate your passport.

If you have doubts about whether or not you will be let into the UK then apply for a UK visit visa from the US before travelling.

You should tell the IO the truth or otherwise refusal is almost certain.
