2 week gap in between jobs- eligible for ILR?

Hi,
I’m hoping someone could help me. I am an American who entered the UK on a work permit in Jan 2005. In March 2006, I received a new job offer and work permit issued. In April 2006, I left job #1 and there was a 2-week gap before I started my job #2. During these 2 weeks, I travelled to India on holiday. I then came back to the UK and have been in the same job since May 2006.
When scheduling my appointment, the Home Office told me that it shouldn’t be a problem since it was less than 28 days, but it’s “ultimately up to the case workerâ€

It shouldn't be a problem with only 2 weeks gap - make sure to have a confirmation letter from your previous employer, too.
It is also true that the decision is on the discretion of a case worker - but this is always so.

"...travel a lot for work..." - can you count exactly a total number of days abroad? A rule of thumb is 180 days in total and not more than 90 days in one go. If more, you need to provide proper justification for all your trips (advisable anyway). This can be done in the employer's letter, see sticky as an example and search the forum for success cases with long absences.

1.If your leave to remain and entry in UK was legal, a gap inbetween jobs doesnt really matter.
2.For ILR, you have to demonstrate continuous residence in UK. If you were away on business trips, take an employer letter for them. If your personal absences are less than 180, there should be no problem.
