Tourist Visa OR Tier 1 dependant

Hi All

I am in UK on Tier 1 General Visa. Currently I am searching for a jobs. My wife wants to join me here for a holiday. Under these circumtances I dont want to make an substantial investment to get Tier 1 Dependent for my wife, hence I am planning to get Visitor visa for her....Please advice if there can be any issues?

Hi ,

The best option in your case will be a clean dependent visa and if she will apply for " General Visit Visa" , she may be refused , while keeping the fact that she will remain in UK and not go back to home country. In addition , such an attempt will add " a line " in your wife immigration history ( if she is refused) and you have to be really lucky in TIER1 dependent Visa. IMO go for dependent TIER1 visa

Thanks Aliq09!...I was also thinking on the same lines. But the cost difference in visa fees is too much...that will increase my stakes, specially with no job in hand. I also understand it is better to spend some extra money rather than going down a risky route...I know I am in two minds.

Do let me know what has been the outcome of people with similar situation. Will help me in taking a decision.
