Change of name evidence?

Post by mhkhan » Sun May 16, 2010 2:16 pm

Dear All,

My wife's name changed after marriage and her new name is shown in the new passport. Her maiden name shows on the marriage certificate. Since my name. i.e. her husband's name is mentioned on both marriage and her passport, do I still need to explain or show any evidence of her change in name for her Tier 1 Dependant Application? If so, what can be that evidence?

Many thanks in advance,

ps: I did look up search before posting this!

Under UK law there is no compulsion for a woman to change her surname on marriage. However it is a convention that most choose to follow.

The marriage certificate is all that is needed as proof of change of surname. Nothing else is required.
