Is "Identity Card for Foreign Nationals" a Must-Ha

Post by linkin » Wed May 19, 2010 8:42 pm

Going through the Tier1 "Application Form", I noticed a mention of "Identity Card for Foreign Nationals" (ICFN).

Just want to know if ICFN is a mandatory requirement? Please help.

Many Thanks in advance.

Thanks a lot for reply.

I am in the UK on Tier2 since November 2009 and do not have ICFN. Does that mean I need to apply for ICFN?

Many thanks.

I just came across in Section C (Page 16) of the Application Form.

It says:

Code: Select all

C. Passport or travel documents and Identity Card for Foreign Nationals.
Help on the questions is given at the end of this application form.
For the application to be valid and complete, the applicant must provide his/her original current passport or travel document unless it is not available for one of the reasons specified on the application form. If the applicant has a current grant of leave on an identity card he/she must also provide their Identity Card for Foreign Nationals (ICFN). for the application to be valid and complete. The applicant should also provide all previous passports and/or travel documents that he/she has used to travel to and remain in the United Kingdom.
Please suggest.

the link given by sushdmehta says that for Tier 2 it is applicable after 6th Jan 2010 so should not be applicable to you if you are on Tier 2 from Nov 2009

I suggest that you read *carefully*!
If the applicant has a current grant of leave on an identity card he/she must also provide their Identity Card for Foreign Nationals (ICFN).

Thanks for reply. I truely appreciate the effort.

I read the section, however, I just got a bit confused.

The understanding, I now have, is I do not need to have ICFN because I entered the country before 6th of January 2010 and was not issued an ICFN in the first place.

Please validate this understanding of mine.

Thanks in advance.
