It's simple really. You can either send an e-mail or a letter to your local MP via your local constituancy (excuse my spelling) office outlining your complaint and details of your application etc, remember to include your reference. You should be able to get the address via this link: http://findyourmp.parliament.uk/

You can ask them to raise it with the Parliamentary Ombusman but I would be wary of doing this unless you've passed the 6 month mark AND have already complained to the UKBA. The ombusman will only get involved if you've raised a complaint to UKBA and didn't get a satisfactory response.

I would only take this action before the 6 months if you need your passport back for urgent reasons, i.e. business or family emergency. I've seen responses whereby the UKBA states they advise not to book travel until you have received your passport back or within the 6 months. The MP then siding with the UKBA.

NWO complained to their MP recently so maybe able to get further advice.

Thank you :D. I think I'll wait till the 6 month mark, its only 5 weeks to go so it won't really kill me to wait! I'll see what happens after that.

I mean as long as 6 months = 24 weeks! It is rather crazy isn't it?! I hope so too.. I'm trying to only check post once a week before I end up tearing my hair out, out of sheer frustration :(. Fingers cross for all of us :D

and I am waiting for the 14th week so that I can start calling to make an enquiry...

I know that I will get a standard response but I hope I will manage to beg someone into providing me with more detail. At least it would be nice to know what office deals with it and just to know that the document are still in their hands. For example, the biggest fear for me is to loose the documents. What if they will get lost on the way back to me?

I prepared myself morally for the 6 months wait and if it will get longer then that then I will start to freak out

I know what you mean. I'm 6-7 weeks away from the 6 month point. There comes a time when you start preparing yourself for the 6 month "onslaught" and I think this about the time you resign to yourself that you will have that 6+ month wait. Not good, is it?

@Beige
no they haven't taken money yet. I rang this morning to my bank and asked them if there was any attempt to take £840 and they confirmed that no there wasn't any attempt, then I instructed them and they(bank people) left a message in bank system for my account regarding money £840 will be taken some time in future.
So fingers crossed

Congratulations NoWayOut!! I couldn't believe my eyes when I read your news  I'm so happy for you.

As an aside, I meet someone today whose flatmate, a South African, just got their 10 year ILR. After a 7 month wait. So it seems that waiting that period of time is standard.

Thanks everyone. :D

My passport was stamped at Croydon on May 18th.

I'm still going to complain even though I finally have my ILR. I think it's disgraceful for them to take 9 months on a straightforward case without giving any information on the progress especially when asked to expediate my case based on compassionate grounds (my dad was seriously ill back home and could have died). They never responded to any of my complaints either. My passport has expired too so I have to get a new one before I can even fly to see my dad.

Even though I'm happy to have my ILR I'm still angry at UKBA I think their service is disgraceful.

Good luck to the rest of you still waiting. I will still check the board everynow and then to check how you're all getting on. :D

CONGRATULATIONS TO NOWAYOUT!!! - now it turns out there was a way out :)
WHAT A GREAT NEWS!!!
finally you can have a great weekend - Sunday and Monday are expected to be as warm so make most of them - treat yourself to something special, you really deserve it after the amount of energy that you have wasted in the waiting game

we will miss you here but I am really glad now that your name is in the top half of the list as the amount of your waiting time was scaring everyone here big time.

what about SR - any news? SR are you still following the forum :?: :
