I am telling you, UKBA are reading this forum and are feeling ashamed for the long processing times!!!

I finally got my approval letter. My timeline is:

Sent naturalisation application via NCS: 21/12/2009
Received confirmation letter: 18/01/2010
Recevied approval letter: 22/05/2010 (dated 17/05)

Four months wait in total!
I am a russian citizen who has lived in Bulgaria for a while, maybe that's what caused the delay - UKBA had to run checks in both countries?
(A lot of other russians had to wait just a month)

Congratulations Ameba, you're finaly free.
I do understand that it is frustrating for you who have to wait all that time to finaly see your application processed, but at least you've got it. I'm feeling bit like you, because I can see that some persons appliyed just after me and already got the aproval.

Thanks Breaker.
Not over yet, I need to promise my loyalty to this country first!

Yes, it is really frustrating, but I would advise everyone waiting not to worry at all during the first 6 months. Processing times can vary a lot between people and it's hard to work out any logic here.

If you have no criminal records you don't have to worry about the citizenship approval at all. (Unless your son is dating the princess).

Update:

Applied: 23/03
approved: 25/05 (dated 14/05)
ceremony: 28/05

As I expected, they put the wrong council and made me pay for private £200 ( the council i chose £75, so i am paying 125 extra for a mistake done by them again), I tried to make them send it to the council that i put in my application form, but they said it should be authorised by the home office, i called the home office, a (nice) lade said to me in a very cold tone ( write to us and the case worked will have a look at it) hehehehe, imagine!!! she wants me to write to them ( i would probably receive answer next year) I am just happy that i am done from the home office routine, and hope everyone here to complete their journey asap.

Hi All

Just wondering if all you kind members of this forum who've recently attended an interview at the passport office can let us know of the questions that you've been asked?

Thanks

Hi mate,

These are the questions I got asked (copied from a post I made a few pages back:

Initial checks ->
They check the computer for your photo and that it matches who they are interviewing in person..
1. What is your name? Spell your name.
2. Have you had any other names previously?
3. What is your date of birth? Where were you born?
4. What is your full address?
5. Are you British? Can you remember when your naturalisation ceremony was?
6. Does anyone else over the age of 16 live in your house? Who?
7. What is your mother's name and date of birth? Place/Country born?
8. What is your father's date of birth? Place/Country born?

Specific credit check questions ->
9. Do you have any bank accounts? How many? (Joint accounts are included as '1')
10. Do you have a mortgage? With which provider?
11. Do you have any mobile phone contracts? With which provider/s?

Questions regarding information on the application ->
12. What supporting documents did you send with your application?
13. Via what method did you send your application?
14. Who countersigned your form? How is the person known to you?
15. How old roughly is the person who countersigned your form?
16. What is the e-mail address that you put in your application?
17. Have you received your supporting docs back yet?

They then get you to sign an electronic pad to check that your signature matches that in your application form.

That's about it really from what I can remember. What I suggest is that you photocopy your application form before sending it off so that you have a copy of the information you sent as the bulk of the questions is about what you put in the application. Don't know about you but I had to ask my parents re: year of birth etc. and I literally revised this before going into the interview!

Hope it helps! :)

Could anyone got their passport let us know the fastest way to do it. From previews posts i came up with this sum up:

-always send it by check and send.
-get special delivery envelop to be sent with your application to get the shortest time possible in regards to delivery.
-Try to call the IPS from time to time to know if you application been approved in order to get a reference number to book an interview asap.

could someone confirm to me when i shall start calling the IPS with possibility to give me that reference number to book the interview sooner.

What number to call?

Post by benz52 » Wed May 26, 2010 9:58 am

Sent: 12th May
Received by UKBA: 13th May
Payment by credit card: 17th May
Approved by Letter: 19th May
Current Status: Unknown

What number do I call and what options do I choose for checking the status of my application? I tried c alling 0845 010 5200 by the options are confusing and I did not reach anywhere.

Many thanks

approved by letter? you are confusing us. Did you mean 'acknowledgment letter'? Because I presume that for the approval letter you will have to wait a bit longer than just one week since your application was submitted.
Do not bother calling UKBA within the first 4-6 weeks as this is this very unlikely to get any feedback anyway.
