Dependent Visa for Child with a USA Passport

Post by kakss » Wed May 26, 2010 12:11 pm

I recently applied for my child visa on a USA Passport.

The document i sent was

1.Photocopy of my own visa and bio data page
2. Original copy of my wife passport
3.Maintenance funds with the required amount
4.Required form with fee
Though child was granted entry as a visitor for two months on our arrival from the usa with the intention of applying when we get to the uk.

The visa was denied and we were asked to appeal, does this makes sense ?

If anybody has witnessed a case like this should be notify us

Thanks and God Bless

You cannot apply for change in immigration status when in UK on visitor visa.

Agreed, you'll need to reapply with the child from USA.

Cases of people who enter UK on visitor visa and then apply (from within UK) for change in immigration status (e.g.- dependents)?

It's possible but only in case where the originators country is war-torn or there is a volcano or drought...

As USA is not such so it's an easy resolution, just take the child back to USA and apply properly, visa should be issued in a matter of days.

This sort of scenario is why the no switching rule was created so it's unlikely an in-country app will be successful, and will only forestall the inevitable and cost you even more money.
