Queries regarding Extension of Tier 1 visa

Post by shalini_g » Wed May 26, 2010 7:12 pm

Hi fellow forum members,

Someone please help me clear these doubts and enlighten with their awareness w.r.t. the extension to Tier1 (or as it was in the case with HSMP extensions before Tier1):

1.) Does anyone know how many extensions can one avail on Tier-1? Is there any rule that puts the cap on number of extensions one can be granted...

2.) How much duration one must be in the UK on Tier1 to be eligible for Indefinite Leave to Remain (Permanent Residence)?

3.) When it comes for the applying for extension to initial Tier1, does one become ineligible if one has not resided in the UK for minimum of one year, or have not been able to work in a highly skilled job in the UK for some minimum duration?

thanks everyone,
Shalini.

No rule that puts a cap on number of extensions.

PR applies to EU/EEA citizens, and for the rest it is ILR. As per current rules (which are expected to change in July 2011) one needs to be a resident in UK for 5 years before becoming eligible for settlement (ILR).

What do you mean when you say "applying for extension to initial Tier 1"? Because there's no such thing.
