Covering letter

Hi,
My dad is currently partner in a business and he would like to visit UK for period 2-3 months. In his absence, his partner would be taking care of the business. I was wondering if this needs to be mentioned in the covering letter and also if a letter from the partner will be required to show his consent for absence for this period? If a letter is required; could you please share me the format of the same.
