Timeline for citizenship application after being granted ILR

Post by Goodman23 » Sun Jun 06, 2010 1:00 pm

Hie everyone, l'm looking for advice of when to apply for citizenship after having been granted ILR on 21/5/10 following a 10 year legal continous residency period of which the last 5 years was on a work permit. Do l have to wait 12 months on ILR or can l apply immidiately. Just worried about this new government promising to change the rules and trying to make them tougher and ofcourse the ever increasing application fees. Advice please, can l apply now or do l have to wait for 12 months before applying?

Unless you are married to (or in Civil Partnership with) a British Citizen you need to have your ILR for at least one year before applying for Naturalisation.
