Maintenance: Bank Statement of Brother

Post by divisionbell » Tue Jun 08, 2010 2:15 pm

Hi,
My sister is going to apply for her tier4 student visa from Pakistan in a few months time. I am based in UK and working here. For maintenance funds proof, can my sister use my bank statement alongwith a sponsor letter from my side explaining that I'll sponsor her education and provide her all the necessary funds for education? If it is possible to use brother's bank statement, what documentation is required as a proof of the relationship? Is it better that my sister uses her own bank statement as a proof of maintenance funds?
I would appreciate your help on it.
Thanks,
Ali

Your bank account and letter would do.. for proof of your relationship, ur passport copy and ur sister's passport copy should do. Parent's names would be identical on ur respective passports.. These days I believe proof of where she would reside in the UK should also be kept along with the application.

I thought T4 funds had to be in an account in the applicant's name (can be jointly with another person) or in parents' name with birth certificate and letter of consent to use the funds for study.

I don't think funds held by anyone else such as a brother are acceptable under T4

Letter of consent is required in joint account as well? because the student have equal access to account. There is no detailed guidance on ukba website about joint account and its requirements.if someone had expiereance on it please share.
