Will Tier 1 be affected by laws changing?

Post by Pranvayu » Wed Jun 09, 2010 4:31 pm

Today the government have tightened rules for immigrant partners. Story on bbc.co.uk is: "Ministers are bringing forward to the autumn measures requiring many immigrants marrying UK citizens to prove they have a command of English."

We all know that the new government will indoutably, tighten the visa rules. They have started with the above and next will move to Tier 4 (student visa. )

Will they change rules for Tier 1 as well. If so, what are the likely changes to be implemented?

I know we're speculating here but this will allow people to know what's to come and be prepared.

Which english test will satisfy the condition? IELTS ?

If they implement it on Tier 1, it will be the same.

UKBA says its both for citizens and people settled here. so it might include Tier 1 too...

It will make no change for main application as main application already has been assessed english proficiency at the time of application. As far as the spouse of the main applicant is concered, it will impact at the time when the spouse will file for ILR on the basis of certain years of stay in UK.
