HSMP Got Approved - Any one getting their EC from US

My HSMP application has been approved. Thanks a lot to this forum.

My details are

Reference #: 128**
Application Received: 11th Feb 2004
Decision Made: 8th May 2004
Documents Received: 19th May 2004

Anybody from US share their EC experience?

Congratulations - EC from the US should be straight forward - you can do it electronically....Please submit all required documentation

We have not heard of any EC HSMP failures in the US, however, we have about 3 failures in India

Main reason tends to be lack of sufficient funds - to cater for applicant and depedants without recourse to public funds

Thanks for the info.

I am from India, expecting the letter in first week of June. For EC, Can I submit the same set of documents and Bank statements I submitted with HSMP application?

Or Is it better to use the latest bank statements?

As you mentioned on the other postings, around 8000 pounds would be fine if dependents are not applying along with the applicant. Pl correct me if I am wrong.

Hi Darik,

I got my EC I made an in person application.
Submitted the following documents:
1. 2 VAF1 forms (myself and spouse)
2. Cash $143
3. Original HSMP approval letter
4. Hotel reservation for 2 weeks as proof of accommodation
5. Travel reservation
6. Original marriage certificate
7. Bank account statements for the past 3 months
8. Joint savings account statement
9. Credit card statements
10. Passports
11. photocopies of alloriginals that need to be returned

Reservation in the form of Itinary is a must, but please keep in mind that EC does not have any liability and they dont guarantee the visa decision.SO they advice not to buy tickets but to just book and do not go for NON refundable tickets booking.

I made a reservation for a round trip ticket and I had two weeks time to cancel or confirm the reservation.

I went for my EC in that two week time and immdiately after getting my EC, I confirmed my reservation and purchased the ticket. If I had not confirmed in two weeks time, the reservation would have been simply cancelled. but there would not be any cancellation charges.

I guess this is the normal procedure all travel agents follow.

I filled out the VAF1 online at britainusa.com and since it's a general form they ask for "a letter confirming your period of leave from your employer together with salary slips for the last 3 months..." I called the consulate and talked to a very helpful visa clerk who sent me the HSMP specific requirements which are:

1) a fully completed entry clearance application form VAF1

2) a genuine HSMP criteria approval issued by the HSMP Team of Work Permits UK

3) separate VAF1 forms for any dependants travelling with you who are not included on your passport

4) your valid passport or travel document

5) two passport-sized photographs

6) evidence that you will be able to maintain and accommodate yourself and any dependants adequately without recourse to public funds,
e.g. bank statements, proof of proposed residence

7) the appropriate fee

This is specifically the requirements given by the Los Angeles consulate, I'd recommend calling whatever consulate you're going to be applying to.

I did the online application on Tuesday. They did not tell me travel confirmation was required, but they do ask for the date of travel and who is paying. I'm going to get my EC tomorrow and will bring my travel confirmation just in case.

is paper VAF1 form and online form completely different ? My understaing is online app is an electronic version ? I thought in online applition, there would separate selection for HSMP.

The "letter confirming your period of leave" is not required, at least not in Los Angeles. The reason I called the consulate is becaused I was confused about it. Like I said, it's a very good idea to call the consulate where you will be submitting your application.

The online VAF1 is the same questions as the paper one. There is no separate section for HSMP. For people who are eligible to fill out the electronic form, it is preferred because it reduces the processing time for the consulate.

Thanks for your reply. I have checked VAF1 form. The only relevant section , I could find is "SECTION 6 YOUR FINANCES AND EMPLOYMENT DETAILS ". Are you referring to this ?. Did LA conuslate staff tell you to skip " employment part " of section 6 ?

Regarding assets , did you mention about the car ?

What I meant was that after you complete the application online they tell you what documents to bring. This list includes the employment documentation quoted above, which is aparently unnecessary.

I did fill out section 7 (employment and finances)

I didn't list any property in assets. I brought bank account statements to the EC interview showing $17,000 in the bank, and filled in the section asking who I'd be staying with in the UK (section 6). This was apparently sufficient as I got my EC today. I don't know what the minimum would be.

Hi Mike,
What did you show for "proof of proposed residence"? The reason i'm asking this is... in Section6 of the electronic format of the visa application..There is a some mandatory question

""Where will you stay in the UK
1.Hotel or Bed and Breakfast
2.With friends
3.Other ""

Should we reserve a hotel or something like that and give the details for them or is it just a hotel name and a probable area address where i would intend to stay??
