Hie Zara5, thats a million dollar question, its funny coz it seems like you read my mind I was also wondering how long my application would take since the UKBA contacted my school to find out if I was still studying.
the reason why im freaking out is coz they asked me to come for an identity check and told me to look forward to m passport in a weeks time. its been a month now and no news. they said to me a decision has already been made...reason for my impatient :(

Just be patient Zara, thats really the most positive response you could have got from there. At least for you, its just a matter of waiting :D . For the rest of us, we're none the wiser :(

Hie Zara, I may be wrong but if all they wanted from you was an identity check that means they just want to make sure that its really you sounds positive to me. I know how you feel, I feel the same way. :(

Any news as to when Conservative-Lib Dem coalition govt. is coming out with a comprehensive immigration policy?

If this agonising wait for weeks/months on end to hear from the UKBA about ILR application was not bad enough....now this added worry/anxiety as to what lies in store in the new immigration policy (esp. the new government's stand on 10 year rule).

I haven't seen any updates on the UKBA website. Either way, applications already at the UKBA shouldn't be affected.

Coolboy, I sent bank statements as proof of finances they require you to send bank statements did you not send any? How did you prove your income and that you work 20Hours as a student I sent payslips to prove that cause it states how many hours you work on my payslip. Can I ask what documents you sent please. Thanks.

You are not required to send any bank statements. The only requirements are your passports and KOL certificate. I don't work at all ! I really don't have the time to be honest.

If my memory serves me right, during the immigration ministers' debate prior to the election, Damian Green said that the new cap is going to start early next year.

There was no mention of 10 year rule. But there were many tories (including William Hague) who feigned ignorance about the 14 yr rule and said that they will get rid of that if such a rule exists!!

So, my feeling is...people with applications waiting to be cleared by home office will not be affected, new rules will come into play next year and 14 year rule will be scrapped.

I did not know thought you had to. I also sent KOL certificate, I would rather over load the UKBA with information than delay my application incase they needed them, because you have to show that you can support your self without recourse to public funds. My bad, I really thought you had to. Never mind.

10 years long residence set (o) waiting times

Post by banda » Wed Jun 09, 2010 10:01 pm

Hi,
I had posted my ilr set (o) application on 10 feb 2010 under the long residence category (10 year students) and still waiting.
By the time i was applying for my PR i completed my Post graduate dip in mgt (Edexcel level 7). My current visa is valid til october 2010.

My question is, Do i still need to continue studies?
I asked few solicitors and some of them say i need to continue studies and some say i don't need to continue studies because ilr is a different category
Can u guys give me some advice
thanx

I suppose with the new regulations (path to citzenship document) coming into force in July 2011, there's a possibility that all other routes to ILR/citzenship apart from the ones documented could be scrapped.

If you've finished the course you're currently studying and you had/have no intention of pursuing another course on completion of the current one, it will probably be a good idea to send them a certificate or transcript to let them know you've satisfactorily completed it. They may want to check with your college/university that you're still studying...

Must say it's been some days since all genuine applicants on this thread heard any news from the UKBA about their pending 10 year ILR applications.

ILR SET(O) application

Post by hrushiuk » Thu Jun 10, 2010 2:09 am

Hey guys,
been reading the thread for a while and finally joined today since my application was sent in on the 1st of June 2010 for ILR, SET(O) under the 10 year category. 6 student years and four years on workpermit as a professional. Still got more time left on my work permit..untill Sep/2012 but thought may as well apply under the 10 year rather than waiting any longer! Time spent outside the UK in past 10 years = 18 days.
There is a list going of people waiting huh? well, here's my details.

Application sent in 01/06/2010,
Fee processed 02/06/2010,
Days since application sent in...9days! (i know some of you have been waiting for ages compared to me, goodluck you guys)
I am applying through a visa agency so as soon as I hear any more, I shall post it.
Regards,
hrushiuk :)

For the long record list:

We have posted my girlfriends application under 10yr LR criteria (9yrs as student and 1yr as my dependand under Tier1) on the 7th, just checked payment was taken on the 8th, hopefully acknowledgement letter will arrive by the end of the week.
