Claiming jsa on spouse visa

Post by Xlife » Mon Jun 14, 2010 8:16 am

My husband is on a 2 year spouse visa and is claiming contribution based jsa... will this affect his ILR applicatiopn?

Also since I too am not working, the jobcentre staff have said we can make a joint claim even even though he has no recourse to public funds... Is this correct?

There is no problem with him claiming contribution JSA,that is not considered a public fund unlike income based JSA.

If you have paid enough national insurance contributions you can also claim contribution JSA but it is paid seperately and does not come under the 'joint claim' rules.
