Post by penny1012 » Sat Jun 05, 2010 9:18 am

Hi everyone,

my friend is married to an irishman and she would like some advice on how to bring her daughter who is 17, to stay with her from her home country, which is not in the eu.

Many thanks

Hi,

If the daughter is holding an Irish passport, she won't need a visa to go to her mom's home country, She maybe allowed to stay 21 days without a visa. But she can be a dual citizen also and she can stay as much as she wants from her mother's home country as long as she is also holding a passport from that country.

if the daughter is a visa required national, a visa should be sought D join parent. once in ireland the daughter will have to register with GNIB. if the mother is not naturalised yet, the daughter can get stamp 3 as a dependant or stamp 2 as a student. if the mother is naturalised, or her irish husband would like to be legal guardian or something, an application can be made for stamp 4 as a dependant of an irish national for the daughter.

It is important that she tries to get a D Visa before she turns 18.
