Dependent Visa - Maintenance query

Post by sid_3014 » Fri Jul 02, 2010 3:04 pm

Hi Guys,

Please share your thoughts regarding following query:

I am on Tier-1-general recently switched in April 2010 from Post-study-work. I am in UK for more than 3 years as of now. I am planning to apply dependent visa for my wife from INDIA . I need clarification on maintenance funds requirement before starting processing.

1. Since I am in UK for more than 12 months, is it enough to show only 533£ for my spouse (applying from outside UK, entry clearance ) ?

2. Since I have only recently switched in to tier-1 general category is that I should show 1600£ for my spouse? (where by for the last 12 months- I was on Post-study-work for initial 10 months and on tier 1 general for later 2 months (summing up 12 months stay in UK )).

One of the VFS-INDIA customer representative has mentioned that though I have been resident in UK for in excess of 12 months, the Visa status was not consistent (i.e. switched from one category to another ) hence-why I need to show 1600£ for spouse (which was a bit confusing). Do I need to be on same visa category for last 12 months?

The VFS and UKBA website says
it is enough to show 533£ for dependents if the main applicant have had 12 months continuous residence in the United Kingdom.
, and has not mentioned anything regarding the switching of category---

Confused  :? , not sure which way to go??

I will be really greatful if you can share your views , means a lot to me :)

Since you r in UK for more than 12 months, it is enough to show only 533£ for ur spouse...

to be on safer side if possible show 800 gbp for urselves also though many ppl got visas just by showing funds for dependents

thanks ramesh,

I really appreciate , so despite of my switching category from PSW to Tier -1 general in last 12 months is it enough if I maintain 533pounds?

or

Do we need to be on same category for last 12 months?

Sid

I got a reply from public visa enquiries saying that i just need only 533£ to show for dependents if the main applicant have been in UK for more than 12 months irrespective of visa category

hope this might help ppl with similar case

Thanks guys
