Firstly congratulations to Durian, great news. I've been little scared making any comments lately here with some recent posts and how things got heated up between members.this is a very good community and everyone is here to share their experiences regarding this process so I hope I'm not gonna get shouted at but I got my passport etc back from my lawyer with ILR stamp.it is dated the 25/06/2010! I had cancled all my plans for the next six months ready for a long ride since some of our very liked members have waited for such a long time hence never expected anything that quick! It was stamped in Liverpool (my home town now!) Now I don't know whether my 4 yrs of work permit (still sometime left on that permit) on professional job + 6 yeas students counted in my favour or whether using a lawyer and gathering a mass of paperwork that he asked to provide was useful but it still has not sunk in and I just wanna say to Beige, kiwigirl25 and many others who commented on my posts and just a big THANK YOU to all and goodluck. There are more experienced members than me here but if anyone needs to know anything regarding what I included etc then please PM me, I don't know what to feel...I know happy but definately not sunk in yet. Thanks you guys and may everyone receive great positive news soon..I've gained. Lot by following this forum and again my best wishes are with everyone..regards

I could be wrong but reading the received list appears as though those whose long stay are a combination of work permit or various seem to get their ILR quicker than those whose stay is 10years student, has anyone else noticed that?

I have noticed it too. I think Home Office might be giving priority to those who are on a work visa. Or maybe I might just be completely wrong on this.

Yes, we noticed that too a while ago. I think thats part of the reason why in the waiting list we started writing what the basis of a persons 10 year application was on.

I think students account for the remainng 5% that are not processed within 6 months

congratulations to you! it was mentioned here again and again that those who are on the work permit or are here as highly skilled and working get a lot faster response then anybody else. So, you do not need to worry about being shouted at as your quick outcome did not surprise anyone

phoned BIA today - it is my 17th week and a first phonecall, was told that still in process and the lady on the phone was not very friendly I must say..., dont think it had anything to do with me, she probably spoke to someone rude beforehand

so, it seems I will be waiting for at least another month - sad!

just a thought - considering that timeline for those who spent 10 years solely as students is entirely different, perhaps it makes sence to create separate thread

Are you saying you've applied for ILR on the basis of 10 year lawful stay and you've got a CCJ? You also want to know if the HO check that record as well?

If thats what you're asking, based on other posts on the forum, I think they do and its best to declare it on your application form.

Thank you powermatic for that kind reply. I tell you what though, everytime I applied for my "further leave to remain" as a student when the time was a but touch and go between the start of my term and my visa dates coming to an end, everytime on the phone it was someone who sounded like they hated their job, which by the way was answering the calls but all you got was someone reading of the internet site,which we can all read ourselves!! someone who may not understand the pressures of studying, working, paying an absolute fortune on visa application every other year or every year!So frustrating indeed and the sad thing is that after waiting for these many weeks all you hear is the same line over and over again! Now it is understandable that may be that person answering the phone may not be in any authority to be able to answer on individual cases since I'm sure they are not the immigration officers who actually decide on our application but someone who has worked hard for this long and paid a fortune would expect a polite response even if it is "sorry your application is still being processed" or whatever! There were times when some advisors were polite enough but more often than not frustrated kids out of college stuck at the end of the phone to answer us professionals! I'm sure if we got to talk to the immigration officers then things may be different but that is not likely now is it? (sorry about this rant by the way but was honestly tired to be talked down to while waiting for past applications!)
