If I and my wife file the petition together

I and wife both work in the IT industry. In case we want to file a joint application what are the formalities. Will appreciate if someone can let me know the details with regards to:
- Do both of us need to qualify independently(Points)
- Earnings
- miscellaneous details

Well yes, if both of your each apply for Tier 1 (General) then both of you will need to have enough points, etc etc.

Alternatively one of you applies for Tier 1 (General) and the other applies as their dependant.
