Yes I got ILR in 2009. OK I will open a new thread and hope someone will advise on my questions.

everyone said i have to wait untill 2015 and if i apply i will be failed, they even compared me to Hitler and said i have to be in prison , and thanks to moderator the put me on thin ice as you can see, but never mind

I guess they balance the queues differently, case workers would expect to have less errors to deal with through NCS applications.

It took about 6 weeks from applying though NCS and receiving my approval letter.
I dont agree with this coz it is now about 80 days and I am still waiting for any reply from HO :(.

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is in the right place or not (its my first time) but I have a couple questions about applying for citizenship.

I have ILR since September 2009, and intend to apply for Citizenship in September 2010.

I am wondering how long the process/application process takes generally. I am trying to weigh up the benefits of using NCS also.

I don't think there will be any issues with my application. Only change from ILR is that I am now working through a Limited Company (and pay all PAYE/NIC, etc, contributions).

My main questions are:
1) how long (generally) do applications take?
2) If using NCS do they give you back your passport after photocopying? If so, does this mean that you can travel whilst awaiting the decision?
3) I read that you have 90days from receipt of acceptance(?) to have the ceremony - is there much of a wait time to get an appointment?

Sorry about the questions, but as I can apply in September, and am planning on going home for xmas, I just want to make sure I am doing the right thing.

Thanks

1. one month - rare, 1.5 months - average, 3 months 95%
2. yes you get all documents back if using NCS, but HO can still ask for the originals
3. you read wrong, you must have ceremony within 90 days, otherwise you have to reapply for citizenship

not rocket science..without knowing the specifics, it would appear they've made an enquiry which could be anything such as from your refree, some other government department, your council for availability of slots for ceremony etc. What did you think it meant?..There is no need to panic at everything. I have not heard of this external enquiry business before but i think we should just be applying common sense at some of these things instead of worrying
