Tier 1 General Migrant - date of application

Post by amrhady » Mon Jul 12, 2010 2:13 pm

Hello All,

I am applying for Tier 1 general, but I can't find any appointments at my local visa center before July 19. My question is, if I apply and pay online before July 19, will my application date be the date I paid online? or the date that I submit documents to the visa center? (I would still have to submit a copy of my application along with supporting documents, passport, and appendix 1)

Thanks in advance.

Date of submitting the application or date of payment of fees, whichever is later.

Apologies for the typo error in my earlier message, which has (now) been edited accordingly.

When applying from within UK, it is the date on which application is posted (mail) or received (courier).

When applying from outside UK:
1. In countries where there is no online application system, it is the date when the payment is made (usually this step happens only when the application & documents have been accepted as good enough for acceptance by BHC/VAC staff).
2. In countries where applications are to submitted online, it is the date when the application is submitted (online) and payment credited. The documents then need to be submitted on an agreed date.

Thanks. But I was told something different at the the visa application center.

The guy told that the "application date" is the date I submit my documents to them. This is the local WorldBridge office(https://www.visainfoservices.com) responsible to collect visa applications and fees accordingly. I asked explicitly what will happen if I pay online before the 19th of July, and submit my papers later - but he said that still my application date will be the date I hand in the papers and, further, the day they collect my biometric data.

t1-general-guidance document explain otherwise. I am confused whether I can proceed with online application and payment then?

appreciate your reply.

For applications made outside the United Kingdom wrote:The date of the application is the date that the fee associated with the application is paid. This means the date shown on your payment receipt, which depends on how you paid for your visa application, for example, at British Diplomatic Post, visa application centre or online.

I'm not sure...but I think it is the date when your application (including supporting documents and stamped biometric) reaches the visa application center.

Hi sushdmehta, can you point me to a link on the UK immigration site or somewhere else that confirms this is how application dates are determined?
