You have not read the E-forms Guide available on the page you refer to - that's why you don't see the full picture.
As mentioned previously - it does help to read official documents available publicly. :?

Observation about HSMP applications

Post by tyrex2000 » Mon Jun 14, 2004 7:53 am

Some observations on numbers using LA_Mike's Sheet,

I'm trying to estimate the potential benefit to UK economy due to
HSMPs and also how long this scheme is likely to continue without
any changes to the points and criteria (Still need to plug-in the economic
numbers, will do soon).
============================================

Total HSMPs currently in UK = 16,000
Current rate of new applications = 2,000 per month
Estimated Processing Time now ~ 100 days (Calculated from the HO website)
Estimated HSMPs in UK @ Jan 2005 ~ 30,000
Estimated HSMPs in UK @ Jan 2006 ~ 50,000
% of UK Population as HSMPs in 2006 ~ 1% (UK Population= 58 Million)
============================================

Here's how I arrived at these numbers:
App. Ref. No Begin Jan 2004- 10,000
App. Ref. No Begin Jun 2004- 20,000
Hence, 10,000 applications in 5 months = 2,000 per month

Total applications = 20,000 Since 28 Jan 2002
i.e. 12,000 applications in 2 Years and
about 8,000 in the last 4 months (2004)

On Average,
Before Jan 2004 = 500 applications/ month
After Jan 2004 = 2000 applications/ month

Assuming a 10% failure rate (likely, judging from few failures reported on this forum) and about 10% drop outs (those who don't enter UK even after getting HSMP), there are about 16000 (20,000 X 80%) HSMPs now in the UK.

It seems that Mr. Mike's spread sheet is not getting updated / May be people who received the result are not sharing it. The last person whose HSMP was approved had submitted his appl. in 27th feb. The HO team is currently processing 6th march 2004, I could see 4/5 member between 27-4th mar. None confirmed the receipt of visa.

LA_Mike,

Many thanks on behalf of all the moderators as well as forum contributors providing their data for your excellent spreadsheet. I am impressed with the recent development to show projected processing times - who said linear equations were boring  . Have included the spreadsheet topic in the HSMP FAQ on processing times so posters can refer to it.

Warmest Regards

Kayalami

Application Refused

Post by RajeevC » Thu Jun 17, 2004 1:35 pm

My application was refused on the 11th.

I was informed by my Consultant on16/06 abt the above ref to letter from HO dated 11/06.

I had claimed 15 points for my qualification on the basis of my Professional qualification from the shipping industry. I am doing a PG Dip studies at London on the basis of the same. But HO needs someone from the Uni to put it on paper saying that my shipping education is good enough to suffice for the PG Dip. Just being accepted for the course and studying it for the last 6 months means nothing. Uni gave me a letter saying that they took my shipping qualifications and studies both into account for being accepted for the course. Hence I did not forward the university's letter finally.

Well, that left me with 60 points.

25 for my Experience in shipping from Sea and Ashore.
25 for my Earnings for above
10 for my Spouse

So when I finish my PG Dip in Feb I will then apply again, if there is a HSMP!!

Best of luck to you all.

:x :x   :x :x

RajeevC,
Really sad to hear about the result of your appl. What are you going to do about the consultant though ? :x

Hope you had a nowin-nopay contract with him.

Your reason for refusal seems pretty basic and something the consultant ought to have known/have doubts about.

My website is down temporarily (it was free from my previous employer and I need to start paying for it... I'll have it back up by the end of the week).

In other news, I've landed in London and hope to have a job quite soon.

Please add my friend (lets call him "G-man").

Applied from Australia for an under 28 HSMP.

They received his application on 6th April and he got a response on the 16th of June. Letter received by post in Australia on the 22nd of June.

His was faster than usual as he was offered a job on the 11th of June. He sent off a fax with a copy of the job offer on the 13th of June and they must have processed his application straight away.

Don't know his reference number though.
