ILR with 3years on WP + 6 mnth Student Visa + WP again

ILR with 3years on WP + 6 month Student Visa + WP (8 months+) again
Hi,
I have been in the UK since Sept 1997 when i came here on a student visa. In Nov 2001 I switched over to WP. In Dec 2004 i switched over to a student visa while still in the UK ( Although one is not allowed to switch to student visa while still in the UK, i did not have any problem as I was about to finish my PhD which related to my work.). In June 2005 I switched over to WP again while still in the UK.
Can I apply for ILR now with a break of about six months?
OR
Should I wait till Sep next year when i would complete 10 years?

You need the WP time to be continuous for ILR.
