Shall I be cheeky and mention my news, given the ever growing suspicion amongst us lately that HO 'spies' have filtered through onto this board? Well to hell with it I think it might give some of you long-suffering peop a glimmer of hope. Here we go.

Some of you may recall that I asked for advice about officially 'recorded' gaps in residence in the SAR file a while ago due to an out-of-time application for further leave when in actual fact I made the application on time, on the last day of validity of my previous stay. At the time no one replied so I guessed that no one had any experience. I went ahead with what I thought was the best thing to do, applying for ILR with an explanation letter together with the Recorded Post receipt bearing a matching reference number to that one on the HO database. I wasn't sure what else I could do exactly. I sent my form off on 2nd April just before the fees went up, and had been clutching at straws ever since, fully anticipating a reply no earlier than October.

I was out all day today and as I got home, saw a thick A5 envelope postmarked 'Croydon'. I opened it with violently shaking hands and it turned out to be good news - my ILR. The letter was dated 14th July and postmarked 15th, so had to say that was efficient given how some posters had delays of almost a month in between those dates. I had a good long shower to gather my thoughts before getting on here.

I had 19 months' WP early 2005 to late 2006, with the rest all being student visas, but most importantly my last extension was a student visa and I'm still in the process of finishing my PhD. The total duration from the date I posted my application to today - 17th July - if i calculated correctly, is 15 weeks 1 day, a mind-numbingly fast turnaround.

Now I don't want to rub salt into the wound especially of those people who have been waiting for over 30 weeks, but I hope that this bit of news may just provide us with the hope that the applications are finally moving, even for current student visa holders, so chin up and hope for the best. We'll all be stronger for the experience and only people who've experienced this whole ordeal will ever understand the extend to which it could wear you down. So stay positive and I wish you all the best.

I won't just run away now I've got what I wanted. If anyone's got questions please feel free to ask in case there's anything I've not covered. This place helped me through some pretty dark times and it's only right that we contribute towards it after we used it, however little it might be it might just prove to be the missing piece of jigsaw for someone else.

(Btw I didn't want to add my name to the list because everytime I looked at it, it was depressing me more and more so I decided to do without it. Also just in case anyone wanted proof that I wasn't just talking bull then PM me and I'll be happy to comply.)

(Please don't shoot me. I know it looks like i'm one of the few really lucky ones and I will try spread all my remaining luck to you all.)

Congrats bb21, a weight off your mind finally! :D

Don't worry about people shooting you down for getting your ILR quicker than them. You've always come across as genuine so I think people will be extremely happy for you.

Everyone else: Instead of demanding beige updates the list maybe it's time for others to take their turns. I have sneaking suspicion that beige is going to be busy for the foreseeable future. :)

Thanks to you both. As I said, best luck to everyone who's still waiting. Unlike many others there will be no celebration activities of any sort for me as i'm just glad that it is finally over. Life can carry on as normal now. :)

It's Croydon SET1. After all the hype about the Liverpool and Sheffield teams, it looks like Croydon are starting to catching up. It really is a lottery where your application ends up and which caseworker you end up getting.

I'm more than happy to do regular updates now that life doesn't seem as depressing it gives me some motivation and it'll be my way of giving something back. :)

Can someone please confirm that I have not lost mind yet!

I came here couple of days ago and I remember reading post my Kiwigirl were she was saying that her solicitor received a letter from BIA. I dont seem to find that post now- was I having a dream about it? or perhaps Kiwigirl deleted it? I am kind of confused now - I hope I was not hallucinating :?

No you're not going insane. I did post that message. I didn't deleted... I edited it due to the below reason.

What happen was when I phoned the solicitor it appeared the message was "had I received a letter?" not "we've received the letter". It was a case of hearing what I wanted to hear. I felt so embarrassed by my idiocy I came back here and apologised. Few hours later an entire page of posts had disappeared. I can only assume the moderator felt sorry for me and deleted my original post and any related posts on my behalf.

Therefore it was I that had gone insane and actually still remain insane  Oh and my solicitor has sent a letter of complaint as she said that while long term applications can take a long time they shouldn't take this long.

kiwigirl, you're not the only one. i've become so paranoid that i check my mailbox TWICE A DAY !!! its so frustrating. hopefully the wait is going to be over soon for all of us.

on another note any recent sucesses for 10 years long stay category for students. i too have noticed people with WP or HSMP or other receive quicker responses.

Hi all, finally I managed to find some time to do the update. As I said I will try to do it on a weekly basis if there are more good news coming.

I have changed the format slightly and in the list of successful applicants, separated people who applied with predominantly student visas in their 10 years and else. I have also altered the layout for ease of editing but they should be pretty self-explanatory. If people find it confusing then let me know and I will change it.

I have taken the last update from the previous page and changed the status for Beige and myself. If I should add any more info to the list then let me know.

Finally good luck to all that are still waiting.

Hi bb21,

My partner has received her ILR in c. 6 weeks - see original post I submitted earlier. Oddly enough - I applied for my ILR same date as she got her ILR

Posted: Wed Jul 21, 2010 8:28 am Post subject:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My partner received her ILR yesterday after 6 weeks wait. ILR was stamped in Liverpool, but acknowledgement letter came from Croydon. Further details below:

Sticagus applied 07/06/2010, ILR stamped 13/07/2010, documents received back 20/07/2010 [9 year student + 1 year Tier 1 dependant]

As the other topic is still locked, thus I'm posting here - I have also sumbitted my application yesterday under 10 year category: applied 20/07/2010 [7 year student, 1 year WP, 2 Years Tier 1 (G)] , money taken on 21/07/10, confirmation letter received on 26/07/10

Hope this helps, Good luck all

sticagus...

It will be interesting to see how long it takes you to get your ILR in comparison to your wife. You both almost applied under the same circumstances so you would think it would be the same processing time... but let's see.

Here's hoping you get it good time :)

Is there anyone who has waited more than 33 weeks?

It might be of comfort to know that eventually it will come

yes, there were quite few people who waited over 30 weeks. I coppied a list from page 23 of this forum and as you can see at the top of the list, some applicants waited 30-37 weeks. unfortunately, one of the applications was refused even after 31 weeks, but lets hope that all remaining applications will get a go ahead. Hope this helps.

OLD LIST - do not use this
