Naturalisation - passport required?

Post by Ben » Mon Jul 26, 2010 12:40 pm

Hi folks,

When applying for naturalisation as an Irish citizen, I notice on the application form that the applicant's passport is not in the list of documents to submit with the application.

Is that right? Passport not required?

Nope. The original passport is not required but copies of pages with immigration stamps (if applicable) are required.

Ok many thanks. I'm a British citizen, so am I to assume that they'll want a photocopy of the photo page of my passport?

It doesn't appear to stipulate this as a requirement on the form, but I might send it anyway, just so they don't use it as a reason to reject the application.

Yup, going to apply based on Irish associations (my son is Irish). I have mixed feels about being British.

The family are applying as well, so we'll submit all applications together. 1% of me thinks it might carry some weight in the approval of the family's applications, but the other 99% of me thinks fat chance.

Still, we shall see. €4750 to the DoJ anyway..
