Ok I'm really confused and a bit worried, if anyone can help me, it would be great.

I got my passport last Friday along with all my application documents.

Checked my passport and was elated that I got the visa. Quickly looked through my stuff and it didn't seem like anything else was included.

Today I've been able to properly sit down and look through the docs and I just noticed that an envelope was hiding between the papers.

Pulled it out and it's a VFS envelope with my name and application number and "MEDICAL FORM" stamped on the front. Nothing inside it.
What am I supposed to do with this? Am I supposed to get some sort of medical done? Why was I not formally informed about this by the staff if it is needed?

I mean, if I hadn't bothered to look through all of the papers it would have never caught my eye! :?

I'm going to phone VFS tomorrow and enquire but any first hand information would be great.

P.S. Is there a time limit as to when I have to return to the UK? I might be able to fly out only in a month or two. Are there restrictions on how soon/late you can enter the country?

Settlement case from India!

Post by bazzyboi » Mon Jul 26, 2010 9:12 pm

Hi guys,

I applied for my settlement visa from India on the 05/05/2010. My case was forwarded to the British High Commission Chennai. After all the huffing & puffing, I have been told today that a decision has been made & my documents would be sent SOON!

I tried asking her if it was granted or refused but she said she wasn't authorized to tell me but that I would be receiving my documents soon. One of my friend told me that when they say they would be posting back the documents then it most probably means its rejected (God forbid, I hope not) & if they ask you to collect it from the local VFS then it means its granted.

Could people who have received their visa's already share their experience please, on whether they received their passports by post or they went to the local VFS to collect it??? :?:

Thanks in advance!

@bazzyboi : Not sure if I can help you, but as far as I know doesn't it depend on what method you specified at the time of application submission?

I said I wanted to collect my stuff from the VFS centre. However there is also the option of having it all couriered to you. So I'm guessing if you took that route, they would post it out to you. Don't think the visa decision should affect how they send it to you because either way they aren't going to tell you the outcome.

I could be wrong tho!

@akhila : I phoned up VFS and the woman on the line said that they will only ask for medicals while they are processing the visa. Since I already got the visa, I shouldn't worry about not having done my medicals. If it is really required, I could be asked to do one at airport immigration.
So I asked, should I just get one done any way to be on the safe side at the airport? and she said, no. If they ask you at the airport, get it done then, else don't worry about it :?

Hi Amine

can you just let me know why it took such a long time, October 2009, did they asked for any additional documents apart from submitted ones?

Basically we originally thought we were applying
for a fiance visa, in Oct and got rejected .. we appealed the decision and the judge felt really bad as our solicitor ripped us off n applied for a
marriage visitor the judge sat me down and said that he is 98 percent confident that we will get it..... were just

Appeal process!

Post by bazzyboi » Fri Jul 30, 2010 9:17 am

Does anyone know how long does it take for the appeal & for the visa to be stamped, is it a quick process or a very slow one?

Your replies would be appreciated!

Its always better to take here and take Xray with u, put the xray in hand baggage and if possible take it from some good diagnostic centre (appolo hyderabad).

its true, when u come to Border agency(immigration), typically in heathrow it will take 3 hours to get medicals if u r not carrying xray before.
