PSW visa, two degrees?

Post by CG77 » Tue Jul 27, 2010 6:26 pm

Dear all,
I would be immensely grateful if you could offer any advice whatsoever on the following issue.

Basically, I have a student visa for the UK. I completed an undergraduate degree here, after which I commenced a postgraduate degree. At this moment in time, I have a student visa and I am nearing completion of my postgraduate studies. Both of these at top universities. I plan to apply for a PSW visa.

- I can apply for the visa on the basis of my undergrad or postgrad studies. therefore can I apply whilst still a postgraduate student (since I have completed undergrad already and fuflil that requirement), or must I also wait until I have completed postgrad?

- I am a bit worried that Imight fail my postgraduate degree, since I was a bit distracted this year and it is a notoriously difficult course. Obviously if I fail, I cannot apply to PSW because I wont have completed the degree (until resits next year anyway). However, I will still have completed my undergraduate degree.

I'm worried because when I get my results in a month for my postgraduate degree, if I have failed, then it will be over the 12 month deadline from completion of my undergraduate degree. This means I can't apply for PSW because i. i haven't "completed" a degree and ii. the 12 month deadline from completion of my undergrad degree. Is this the case? I would then have to return to my home country for a year until I complete resits and am awarded the degree? If this is the case then I would be able to stay if I can apply whilst still a student, on the basis of my completed undergrad degree, because it is still within 12 months of completion?

Thanks

your best bet is to apply for psw now if u think you will not pass your post graduate degree. but only if you fulfill the financial requirements. if you have maintained the required funds in your account from past three months than there should be no problem as such as long as you apply with in one year of the completion of your last degree.

another option is to wait for your results, is you pass it...happy days!! otherwise pay your fees again and do that particular module or dissertation again, get your masters degree and get your psw visa next year.

regards.

before the big change made by the new government recently, the people can do anything they want with the PSW visa including studying. However, since the new government would like to reduce the amount of the migrants, students are allowed to study with the only fact that they are holding student visa. Therefore, in your case, your application for PSW is probably going to be refused when you are still a student.

Thanks
