Residence card--relationship ends, can I marry someone else?

Another tricky question:

I am a non-EEA national with residence card (family member of the EEA national). We were engaged and lived together.

The relationship recently ended because he did not want to get married and we were NOT really in touch with each other anymore for a while.

Without informing UKBA the relationship has ended, can I marry someone else in the UK? Would it be a problem for me to marry someone else since my residence card lasts until 2012?
