Can Maintenance fund acc. and salary account be the same

Can I show the maintenance fund (2800 pound)in the same account as the one I m showing my wages from(i.e.salary account). Bcos the account that receives my wages has that fund for more than 3 months. Will there be any problem/risk if I do this? What is the need for showing that fund in another account. And this savings account is in my name.
