tier 1 general and frequent vists outside UK

dear all,

i got tier 1 general visa in DEC, 2009 which is valid until DEC, 2012. the job which i am doing at the moment involved frequent visits outside the UK, ie i will have to stay outside UK for 3 to 5 months every year until 2014. my question is that,

will it affect my status here in the UK?

if i spend 3 to 5 months outside the UK until 2014 every year, i know its breach of condions and at the end of 5 years i would not get ILR as it will be a certain refusal. in that case intead of applying for ILR can i apply for 2nd extention to complete that gap.

How long can you extend your stay?
If we approve your extension application, you will be able to continue living and working in the UK for a maximum period of three years (or two years if you are currently a Tier 1 (General) migrant whose current permission to stay was granted before 6 April 2010).
At the end of this period, you may have lived continuously in the UK as a highly skilled migrant for five years. You can then apply to settle permanently in the UK. If you are not yet eligible for settlement, you can apply for permission to extend your stay under Tier 1 (General) again.

It will be no problem at all if it is business trip (trip related to your work). When you apply for ILR, the additional document you need to include is get letter from employer (employers) confirming the dates of your business trips. If you change job, it is wise to get letter from employer at same time rather than waiting for ILR application time when it might be little difficult to go back to your ex-employer for letter.

thanks alot for your prompt reply. but my concern is that i will have to stay 3 to 5 months every year until 2014. i will be elgible for ILR in Dec, 2014. and my total stay outside UK at that time will be 1 year and few months. dont you consider its a substaintal time which i will spend outside the UK and can sobotage my ILR application. the trips are purly business trips and i will be paid for this. my employer is ready to give me letter for these trips. i have read in blow link that business trip should not more than 3 months in a year and must not be more 180 days in the whole 5 years
what you think about this?

Is it going to be this easy as people are claiming it will be?

Whether settlement, as it is granted today, will remain operational in 2014 is also a question. Likewise, no one can predict today what the eligibility criteria would be in 2014!

3- 5 MONTH IN a year

on tatal 15-25months is a large period

gettng ILR will not be easy as present threshold for regular cases is 6 months only
