Change of course dates

Hi,

I'm having trouble finding any guidance regarding this, if anybody could help it would be highly appreciated.

My girlfriend is here in the UK on a tier 4 visa for a course that starts in a couple weeks. When she applied it was for a foundation course + the diploma course. The visa has been granted for the duration of both.

She is curious about whether she can skip the foundation course. If she opted out of the foundation course, will she need to notify the home office? Also, is it likely that they will want to change her visa dates so she is only able to stay in the UK around the start date of her diploma?
