1000 pounds for a visa

Hello

some one told me that a 1000 pounds is going to be charged for a visa, is that just a rumour.

also i heard that the duration for HSMP visas is going to be changed to 2 years, after 2 years the HSMP holder would have to get another 2 or 3 years HSMP visa, is that true or another rumour?

I would not be surprised. The HO has stated in the last Command Paper that it would review the fees structure later this year. 'Review' usually means an 'upward only' review.

I also think that the change to the ILR qualifying period was mainly influenced by the HO desire to collect more fees from immigrants. It was also influenced by the need to ensure an overall natural reduction in the number of migrants qualifying for settlement.

The reason the HO gave for the change (imitating European norms) is a big B..S.. as the UK has deliberately opted out of the European long term residents directive and is adamant not to join this directive.

It is another way of keeping off migrants - by charging astronomical fees.

Well we're half way there already £500 for ILR (in person application offcourse)

Yes, I do find some of the prices quite outrageous but it hurts less because of the fact that the service they provide is one of the best anywhere in the world - in the public sector or private(Try cancelling your mobile phone contract

)

I do agree that deciding what services are good value for money or not is quite a subjective thing and will differ from person to person. For me £268 for applying for British Nationality is quite fair, £35 for NCS is quite decent but £120 or even £75 for a Private Ceremony is outrageous when it takes approximately the same time of the Council employee as the NCS. I cant remember how much I paid for ILR but if its £500 as bbdivo has said it is, thats another one which not a lot of people will be happy about.

i paid 250 to transfer my ilr from one passport to another(250 for a stamp, now that is outrageous), i think that stamp is worth 500 now and supposedly (according to the portuguese embassy) it is a EU directive that your visa is in your new passport

i gues if they do increase it to 1000, then only the likes of infosys & wipro will be able to pay for such a visa, and of course the banks,

so basically high paying earners are welcome, the lowly doctors who have given PLAB are no longer welcome(oh by the way, the two part PLAB exams cost over 600)

Actually the fault lies with us - people seeking to immigrate / new immigrants into the UK. We create the demand and hence the UKHO revises the fee structure one way only as it is the quickest, least resistable and incontrovertible legalised scam of making a fast buck off us. It's based on a simple economic principle.

Oh! and they also they need your hard earned money to pay for the care of their OAPs and free loaders (people on benefits), both of whom are causing a phenomenal drain to the UK's resources.

Surely as long as you carry your old passport bearing valid visa when you travel you should be OK? Thats the information I have got and my friends have been travelling (including me) in this way for some time now.

Have you got links to such information?

I am sure that people will be more than happy to pay £1000 for a Visa, IF, they no longer has to pay National insurance contribution and Taxes in the UK
