Did you make your application through Liverpool centre? As I did submitted on 19/07/10 and it got to Liverpool centre 20/07/10 yet no COA don't know what to do as when ever I ring they always tell me to wait for 6 to 8 weeks before expecting my COA.Jualo wrote:Hi all, just for the statistics:
EE1/EE2 submitted 19/07/10. Together with the form we also sent a letter to request our passports back because we needed to travel in September.
Received by HO 20/07/10
Passports arrived back 06/08/10
COA arrived 07/08/10, dated 03/08/10
No ref number, only Case ID number in the COA
I sent the forms to Liverpool, but addressed them to "EE1 applications" (and not to EE2). Maybe this could make a difference?Did you make your application through Liverpool centre? It took over 2 weeks for mine to arrive...blessed1 wrote:Hi there,
I called the HO this morning and I was told that my application is awaiting allocation to a Case Worker. Meanwhile, they said my COA has been despatched since on monday and I haven't received it yet.
Does anybody know how long it takes a mail to travel from HO, Liverpool to the recipient?
Thanks

Yes! After a week or so I called them and was advised that second class post normally takes 7-10 days... The Home Office lives in its own world of course...blessed1 wrote:blessed1 wrote:Hi there,

Do you mean that your COA took 2 weeks from the time of despatch to arrive at your door step?
Well...I'll see what comes up this coming week. I'm hoping 4 the best.Quote:

anaotchan wrote:Hi everyone,
I have skimmed through the posts here but couldn't find the answer to my question - apologies if the answer is already somewhere on the thread...
Here's my situation: I am French, working in the UK, hoping to get a residence card for my (American) unmarried partner. We've been living together for more than two years and can prove it, so no worries there.
From what I understand, if we apply for a residence card now, he'll probably get it in six months or so, and he won't be able to work in the meantime. His student visa will also run out in a few months.
I was wondering if it would be possible/would be quicker to apply for this residence card from France, by applying through the British Consulate in Paris? (or through a British Consulate in the US?)
Of course I'm thinking there must be a reason why everyone here has been applying by mail and not doing it in person in their home country... but hey, still worth asking
Hope this is clear enough - looking forward to any/all input!
Thank you, that's very helpful! I've looked at the official guidelines, and it sounds like the family permit could be the solution for us. One thing I haven't been able to figure out: do you think we can we still apply from France, even though we're both currently living in the UK? My partner is not technically 'following me' or 'joining me', since he's already here (on a student visa)... not sure if it makes a difference - hope not!patmit wrote:Hi, I think it's not possible to apply RC outside UK but instead you need to apply for something called European citizen family permit which gives almost the same rights as RC but only valid for 6 months -- so you can enter UK and start to work as well. Once in the UK, you can start to apply EEA2 immediately.

I don't know if your partner is eligible to apply for this in France but when applying, your partner may have to wait in France for three weeks or so until the visa is issued.

Thanks again - yes, I realise he'd have to spend a few weeks in France, that's not an issue in itself. I'm more concerned about finding out whether or not he is eligible... I haven't had much luck finding more details about this specific question on the internet, so I called up the Embassy this morning to enquire. I got a very frosty reception! The lady told me to look at the HO website and proceeded to hang up on me, lovely.
