When to apply for naturalization

Post by becomingukcitizen » Mon Aug 09, 2010 12:30 pm

Hello all immigration gurus,

I need your assistance on applying for my naturalization.

I came to this country on 15-Sep-2004 and got my ILR on 19-Aug-2009(applied 24 days before 15-Sep-2009 as it is allowed)

Now i want to apply for my naturalization.

My question is can I apply after 19-Aug-2010 or i have to apply after 15-Sep-2010??

On or after 15 sep 2010, if you are not married to a BC.

Hi,

Why to wait until September. The OP has entered UK in September 2004 and got ILT in August 09 and he can apply after one year from his date of receiving ILR as he has already compltered qualifying residence period of 5 years.

On/after 19 August 2010, if not applying for naturalisation as spouse of British citizen and if standard requirements are met.

P60s required only if you are applying under European Economic Area and Swiss nationals

Evidence of exercising treaty rights for five years
We require evidence to cover the relevant five-year period. You should provide:

P60 tax certificates; or;
an employer's letter confirming employment; or
a benefits letter confirming job seekers' allowance claimed; or
a benefits letter confirming incapacity benefit claimed; or
documentary evidence confirming pension received.
