Language points issue

Post by nagaraju.ch » Sat Aug 14, 2010 7:49 pm

Hi all

I am M.Sc(Physics) from Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India. and B.Sc(electricity) also from the same university.

I tried in Points based calculator in UK Immigration site. I tried claiming points for English Language on my p.g or Degree. but i coudnot get any points.

Can anybody tell me how to proceed to claim points? do i need to produce any certificate from University saying that this person is studied in English. will it be fine?

My both the Original Degree certificates says the title as Faculty of Physical Sciences. So can i saythe subject as Other or professional Subjects

I could claime 35 points for my qualification on my P.G.

Thanks
Nagaraju Ch

I tried using your bachelor degree and the calculator awards 10 points for english. I used the following parameters:

Country of award: India
State : Andhra Pradesh
Qualification: Bachelor degree
Institution: Acharya Nagarjuna University, Guntur
Length of course: 3 years or less than 4
Subject: Other
Grade
Year of award: 2006
Points for English language: 10

Thanks very much push,

I am feeling happy now.

What i tried in the Subject area is
Subject: Science/Maths.
As my Original degree says Faculty of Physical Science. Does this comes under Other?

Once again thanks for good news.

Also suggest me whether i can submit my Master's degree/Bachelor's degree for my language points, I am submitting Master's degree as Qualifition, then i am getting 35 points.

Did you know that English language points are awarded based on UG degree (4 years) rather PG (2 years)? sushdmehta tried to draw your attention on Policy guide, which you didn't read well. If you read Policy guide then you will get this answer as well.

That was a couple of years ago. Now you can show your PG for english language requirement.

195. Applicants can claim points when the points based calculator confirms that the degree:
• meets or exceeds the equivalent level to United Kingdom Bachelors degree; and
• was taught to a competent standard of English equivalent to level C1 on the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Learning, Teaching, Assessment (CEFR).

If your masters degree gives you points for English language requirement then, submitting only your masters degree is enough as evidence of qualification and fulfilling the English language requirement.

Looks attractive... As a matter of fact, i wont do my PG in reginonal language while my UG was in English.

In Either ways, submit both UG and PG degree certificate along with academic transcripts :)

The degree which the points calculator awards you 10 points under the english language section for. If it does for both then use the highest degree as thats what you would be using for claiming points on education as well.

Does scoring EXTRA points (more than 100) makes your case stronger?

As long as you are scoring 80 points or more and you can prove them, you will be granted the visa - it does not matter if the total is 100 or 200.
