PSW to Tier 1 Salaried+Self employed

Post by suri0483 » Wed Aug 18, 2010 5:12 am

Hi Everyone,

I need to if anyone can clear my doubts about being self employed and salaried.

I have earned about £17000 pounds from my salaried employment working about 35-40 hours per week. From May luckily i got a 6 month contract from a company to work as a Java developer (but still working for my other employer for around 35-40 hours). As per my contract I have an option to work from home. The contract was £250 per day. So my monthly earnings from self employment as contractor were around £5000 a month. I had been working at my other job as well during my work from home opportunity.

My earnings are £16000 (from salaried employment from Aug-09-Aug-2010) and around £20500 (from my self employment during May10-Aug10)---- Total £36500.

1. What are my chances of getting my Tier-1 G visa?
2. I have UTR letter from HMRC, do I need to register for Public orEmployer liability insurance. If yes, please suggest how I can go ahead doing this.
3. I actually registered my self employment in mid February but do not have any earnings until may. Do I need to submit my SA200 form with zero earnings listed for financial year 2009-2010.
4. I have my invoices issued to the company I work for and the payments from the company were made directly from their bank account.

Please enlighten me on this.

Thanks.

1. u got good chance :D
2. Go to google and search Public liability insurance or employer liability insurance and there are various companies providing the services. Apply for cheapest quot.
3. Yes u need to file Nil return.
4. Thats how it should be
5. You need Accountant's letter confirm your income and money receipt in ur account. Better request ur accountant to prepare a full breakdown invoicewise of all the money receipt. Accountant should be least Chartered or certified
Good luck

Answer to your question 1 depends on other factors like your age, qualification etc. Check the PBS calculator to see if you qualify.

Hi skomati,

I haven't paid any tax as my earnings fall under financial year 2010-2011. But I am paying my NI contributions.

My only doubt is if it will be a problem if I work for 35hours with one employers and also do the self employment.

Thanks and Regards

Hi,

employer Liability insurance is not needed if you are sole trader . You need it only in case if you have employee other than you .
