Tier 1 - Name on Bank Statements

Post by neosumit » Fri Sep 03, 2010 3:20 pm

Hi,

I have noticed that one of my bank accounts which I have to show as part of maintenance funds has my father's name on it.

The name on my bank statement (of maintenance fund) is:
Sumit (my father's first name) Singh.
However my other salaried account has my name as: Sumit Singh.

I would like to check if this is acceptable and should not cause a problem.
My father's name as on the bank statement is present in the passport.
Thanks,
Sumit.

I believe ur father's name is used as a middle name in ur bank account. I dont think there should be any problem.

Yes. Even I think so.

However looking at the way applications get scrutinized, its better to be cautious than file an AR.

Thanks!
Thanks,
Sumit.

yeah you are right about being too careful, but i think in this case, you'll be fine. On some documents, ur middle name appears, in others, its just an initial and in other's there's no reference to any middle name. Does not change the fact that they are all the same person. And luckily, like you said, both names are on ur passport.

I however have a question about maintenece funds. I have held the required minimum balance for over 6 months, but have noticed that the statement does not always show the balance after every transaction. On some days, it only shows the balance after the last transaction of the day. At other times,, it shows the balance after every transaction. Hoping UKBA will not interpret this to mean that I have not proved balance for the whole period.

I suggest you ask this as a seperate question.

Also put in a snapshot of what your problem really is.
Thanks,
Sumit.

If you have time, then place a request to the bank to update your name in the bank database with actual name (accompaniying a copy of ur passport). Request them to expedite it. It should not take more than 7 working days.

Check them after receive a confirmation that data was updated. Then again request for the statement.

ELSE,

take a chance.

Yes, it is safer to have the name on all ur docs match the one on ur passport.

How about 'kumar' as middle name.

My company record has 'Sumit Sharma' and thus payslips will show only this name.
but
1) My name in bank account is 'Sumit KUMAR Sharma'.
2) My passport says 'Sharma, Sumit KUMAR'

I was also thinking of describing 'Kumar is middle name' details in my VAF9 form
'Part 7 - Additional Information' section.

so
A. is KUMAR missing from payslip a issue?
B. Using 'Part 7' for such highlights details is good or bad idea?
