New Process of Indian Passport Surrender through VFS UK

With effect from 6th September, 2010, collection of applications for surrender of Passports and their delivery has been outsourced to VF Services UK Ltd. (http://in.vfsglobal.co.uk) in a phased manner as per details below:-
(i) From 6th September, 2010, onwards High Commission of India, London and Consulate General of India, Birmingham and Consulate General of India, Edingburgh will accept applications for surrender of Passports only through VF Service UK Ltd.
(ii) For this purpose, VF Service UK Ltd. has opened the following Application Centres whose addresses are as follows:-

1. London
(1) 60-62 Wilton Road, Victoria, London SW1V 1DE; and
(2) 142-148 Goswell Road, London EC1V 1DE.
(3) 1-3 Canalside, Uxbridge Road, Hayes UB4 0JN

2. Birmingham - The location of centre for acceptance of application for Surrender of Indian Passport at Birmingham is :
India Visa Application Centre
VF Services (UK) Ltd.
No.20-21 Pemberton Street,
Jewellery Quarter, Hockley
Birmingham B18 6NY

3. Edinburgh: The location of centre for acceptance of application for Surrender of Indian Passport at Edinburgh is:
India Visa Application Centre
VF Services (UK) Ltd.
66 Hannover Buildings, Rose Street
Edinburgh EH2 2NN
Tele.: 0131-2263035

VFS Admin Fee = £9.05 There is seperate fee of £102 or £14 (depend upon when you got citizenship) for surrendering your passport.

--Self addressed Royal Mail Special Delivery Envelope (SDE) for return of cancelled Passports / Surrender Certificates.
--if you're unable to send the SDE envelope, VFS can arrange to return your documents through secured delivery by DX secure www.thedx.co.uk, the UK’s leading independent courier and Mail Company for a nominal charge of £7.40, which has to be paid along with the Surrender fees and Service fees.

Thanks for the info.
Does one need to make a booking, or can you just turn up at the VFS office? And is it advisable to be there early in the morning?
In what form should payment be made? Cash ok?

The VFS website mentions the following as part of the documentation required for the application:
- Self attested photocopy of Indian passport
- Self attested photocopy of British / Foreign Passport
Do all the pages of the Indian and British passport need to be photocopied, or just the photo pages?
