Age clarification .. plz help

Post by rpsarangi » Tue Sep 14, 2010 11:08 pm

I am applying for Tier 1 General. My date of birth is 29.sept. 1980.. i Know from reading the forum queries that I get 20 points now as I am not 30 till now. I will be able to post my application maximum by 27th of september 2010.
My queries is at the time of posting my application I am under 30 years , but i know my application will take some weeks to consider,So while they consider I am 30 years plus. So will they take the royal mail applicaion posted date and consider my age as 29 years or they will take my age when they will consider my applicationi.e 30 years and award less points.
I am so confused about this.

Please help .. i am not getting anyanswers from any where regarding this query..
please help...

@rpsarangi,

I am July 1981 and would be claiming 10 points only.
Please search for 'T1 General Guidance PDF' file. It has clearly mentioned.
Points calculator will also show you this.

You can claim 20points only 29 years or below.

My blurry memory says, I do read on 30 years age 'in one of UKBA' documents but guidance and latest document says it is 29years.

You and I fall in 30 to 32 years age for 10 points.

Cheers.

Your age is 29 as of today and will be able to claim 20 points if you apply before your birthday in 2011 and in the case of OP, he is also 29 and will be able to claim 20 points if he applies before 29th Sept 2010.

Typo. Sorry for wrong details.

T1-general-guidance PDF says

Point#64:
Under 30 years of age: 20 points•
30-34 years of age: 10 points•
35-39 years of age: 5 points

But, points calculator says:

https://www.points.homeoffice.gov.uk/gu ... AY_04_HELP

29 years old or under
20
30 to 34 years old
10
35 to 39 years old
5
40 years old or above
0

And points calculator one is to be considered correct, I guess.

Mod, please guide here.

Both are one and the same. 'Under 30 years of age' is same as '29 yrs old or under'.

LoL. 8)

This is good one.

I am at points calculator in "AGE" page.
If I click on 'Help on this question (opens new window)'
It takes me to
https://www.points.homeoffice.gov.uk/gu ... AY_04_HELP

Which says '29 years or under' = 20 points.

BUT, if I click on SEE ALSO--> 'Points for age (opens in a new window)'

It takes me to http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/worki ... sment/age/

which says 'under 30 years'=20 points.

I have application appointed coming Monday.
What should I claim now?

65. The points can be claimed provided the applicant falls within the particular age band indicated above, on the date of their application.

Date of application
45. The date of application will be taken to be the following:
For applications made in the UK:
• Where the application form is sent by post, the date of posting; or
• Where the application form is sent by courier, the date on which it is delivered to the UK Border Agency of the Home Office; or
• Where the application form is submitted in person at a Public Enquiry Office, the date on which the application and associated payment is accepted.
