need information about ILR status with iranian passport

Post by mamalim6 » Sat Sep 25, 2010 3:43 am

my fiance has been granted ILR in 2007. He is originally from Iran. However, he has not change to british passport yet. He has not got any passport at moment.

He decide to apply his iranian passport in iranian ambassy in uk which has been accept his application. Is any one know here if he can take his iranian passport and his origianl ILR document together to visit me in China??

or he has to take his ILR status to home office in UK and put his ILR status on his new iranian passport then he can go abroad.

is there anyone here has similar experience?? many thanks

Check with Chinese embassy in the UK whether they accept UK resident permit (ILR in this case) on a separate sheet of paper for visa applications or if the UK resident permit must be affixed on the applicant's passport.

If the former, then your fiance may apply for Chinese visa with Iranian passport and his Immigration status document (ISD). If the latter, he will need to apply to have the resident permit affixed in his Iranian passport (NTL form).

No it won't cause any problems to come back to the UK. HO tells you when you get the ISD exactly the same thing that sushdmehta said. You can either get NTL endorsement or use the passport and paper separately as long as the country you travel to allows it (sorry to repeat). HO wouldn't offer the option if it was a problem. Maybe they'll question him at the airport but as long as it all checks out OK, he can come back in.
