PIO Application in India

Post by newlybritish » Mon Oct 18, 2010 7:36 pm

Hi,

I wanted to apply for PIO in India.

Pls can anyone share their experience on the timeline and ease/difficulty of the process while applying for PIO in India.

from hci website, it seems if one is on long term visa, they can apply for PIO within India.

Many thanks in advance.

You have to apply in the country where you are resident.
If you are resident in India then apply here. Quite straight forward but usually takes around 6 weeks. They do various checks about your status in India etc
if you are newly british do make sure you have renounced your Indian cit first, assume you have if you have a 5 yr visa

OCI may be better option, if you qualify. See comparative chart on NRI/PIO/PIO card holders/OCI
