travel to US - Tier1 dependent

Post by vinitmenon » Tue Oct 19, 2010 5:39 pm

Hi,

I'm in the UK on Tier1 for the past 14 months.
My company is planning to send me to the US for technical discussions for @ a month in Feb next year .
So they will sort that visa application part.

My wife is here in the UK with me on Tier1 dependent visa since 14 months(she's a housewife).

I would like to take my wife along on this trip to US.She can have a holiday there while I work :)

I understand that I should be applying for a tourist visa for her , but can I apply in the US embassy in London ?
We are both Indian citizens.

Which form should I be submitting and would it be sufficent to state that she would be accompanying me.

I would really appreciate any help on this.

You left out the most important part: which visa is your employer applying for?

A B1/2 visa cannot be applied for by the employer. You will have to make your own application, and so will your wife.

Your employer may supply supporting documentation for the B1/B2 visas.

My employer is submitting supporting documents for my B1, invitation letter from US office , purpose of visit etc

I gather that I need to apply a B2 visa for my wife.

Can I apply this in the US embassy in london ?
What kind of documents do I need to show in her case. Is it enough to say that's she wants to accompany me?

The us embassy website seems to be down

Anything that shows why she would come back to the UK.
