My Baby Nationlity!

Post by wasiter » Sat Oct 23, 2010 11:17 am

Hi all,

Just a summary abt my situation!

Iam a British Citizen (natuaralized) and live with my wife (indian passport - in WP) and we are married for 2 years+ (don't ask me why the visa status has not been changed) and she will be getting her PR in 1 year time.

Now, we are expecting a baby in 7 mnths.

My question is What is my Baby's nationality?

To avoid any confusions what is the best way to go forward? i know at the end of the day im the one will be making decisions.

Just want to get a feedback hw people handled these situations?

Thanks

Thanks for the response.

You are British , the baby will be British no matter what nationality the mother is.

If either parent has British citizenship or ILR at the time of baby's birth, the baby will be British.

..... if the baby is born in the UK!

If the baby is born outside the UK, the baby will only be British if one (or both) parents are British otherwise than by descent.
