How to postpond a given visa?

Dear friends ,
i have been given a 2 year visa under TIER1 GENERAL MIGRANT scheme,
i applied in last may and i got visa only in October ,much more processing time than specified, due to this un expected duration a new project stared in my present company and i couldn't leave and go up to next February ..i don't want to lose my visa duration,will it be possible to amend the visa ? can i ask them to make the visa start date as to be ferbuary?
